1989 winner and former judge, Richard Evans, is the main expert witness when David Irving sues the American academic Deborah Lipstadt after she accuses him of being a Holocaust denier in her book ‘Denying the Holocaust’. The trial made headlines all over the world and Evans was latterly portrayed by actors in TV documentaries, dramas and the 2017 feature film ‘Denial’. He wrote about his experience of the trial, and how he came to be involved, in the 2002 book ‘Telling Lies about Hitler’.
